Jawad Khursheed

Chief Executive Officer

A successful entrepreneur and executive professional with over 16-years’ experience in the areas of management, strategy, and business development.
Since taking over the company in 2020, he has guided HVS through the pandemic and led the team in their vehicle development programmes.
Under Jawad’s leadership HVS have secured significant investment, continued to build their impressive IP library, delivered multiple government funded projects, completed their first demonstrator vehicle, and moved both the MCV and HGV towards manufacture.

Lisa-Marie Cunningham

Interim Chief Operating Officer

Lisa-Marie has 20 years International HR experience working in Engineering scale-up businesses as well as large Blue-Chip Companies such as Alstom, Delphi Technologies & Ecco Safety Group.
She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in HR Management; an International NEBOSH Diploma and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
Lisa-Marie has a proven track record of delivering People Strategies that attract and retain top talent to drive overall organisational performance.

Buta Atwal

Non-Executive Strategic Advisor

Buta Atwal has over 25 years’ experience in leadership, general management, sales and distribution networks, product design and development with P&L responsibilities.
He has extensive international experience as a JCB senior global executive, managing the operations of major JCB factories within the EU, North America, South Asia and MEA.
As CEO of new business start-up and turnround, Bamford Bus Company, Buta was responsible for delivery of the world’s first double deck hydrogen vehicle, leading with all aspects of the business to achieve further growth.
He has recently been responsible for the day-to-day operations for Ryze Hydrogen, building to a global scale.

Mike Ward

Chief Financal Officer

Experienced Senior Finance Executive with board-level experience.
Member of both the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants & Institute of Directors 25+ years' experience in private industry, specialising in support for high growth SME companies regarding: VC and bank funding for business growth; successful acquisition and integration of subsidiaries and due diligence; strategic business planning and corporate development; development of reporting and performance management systems.

John McKenna

Chief Technical Officer

25 years’ experience in automotive development from the concept phase, through development & into launch across the world.
Familiar with leading large multi discipline teams located globally, including Low Cost Country support teams.
Roles in both Program Management & at Chief Engineer level across the Ford Tier 1 supply base, McLaren & Start Up experience through the Arrival Electric Bus.

Karen Preston

Sales & Marketing Director

Karen is an experienced B2B Marketer, having spent over 20 years at senior level working with multi-national automotive, industrial and engineering brands.
As UK Head of Marketing at Ryder Ltd, part of Ryder System Inc., a global leader in commercial vehicle transportation and logistics headquartered in Miami, USA, Karen spent over 5 years creating and implementing innovative marketing brand and communications strategies. She took leading roles in sustainability and alternative fuels projects, working closing with sales and engineering teams to identify new markets and launch new products to support business growth objectives. She is a passionate advocate for sustainability and the green agenda.
Prior to that, Karen was Communications & Marketing Manager at the precision automotive and industrial engineering component and systems manufacturer, Schaeffler (UK) Ltd, where she was responsible for all internal and external brand communications strategies.
Karen is a certified NLP Practitioner, has post graduate diplomas in Marketing and Digital Marketing, and has recently completed Mini MBAs in Marketing and Brand Management with Professor Mark Ritson & Marketing Week.

Pete Clarke

Head of Design

15-years’ experience as an automotive designer for a diverse range of commercial, OEM, concept & niche vehicle programs in the automotive, military and aerospace sectors - including projects with Marcos, Modec, Mercedes, Fiat and Volkswagen.
Particular expertise in commercial Zero Emissions vehicle design development from initial pencil sketch through to production. The vehicle design philosophy implemented with HVS is one of function-led design; blending comprehensive understanding of the powertrain technology and customer requirements, resulting in design innovation that redefines the traditional HGV.

Stephanie Thomson

Head of Corporate Services

Stephanie has an in-depth knowledge of the haulage industry, having experience working for several major logistics companies including DHL, Wincanton and large automotive OEM’s including Mercedes, DAF, MAN and Scania.
Stephanie uses this experience to work closely with our end-users to identify our customers' needs in zero-emission fleets.
